Fuel for the Future
Fuel for the Future by Knowing Your Own Blueprint
Happy National Nutrition Month! Every March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrates national nutrition month to bring mindfulness to something we all do every day - eat. This year, the topic is Fuel for the Future; in other words, thinking about food as fuel for our bodies. The theme really speaks to eating in a way that is thoughtful – to the environment – but we also think it should be thoughtful to your specific body and what it needs.
Our society has become hyper-aware of the fuel we use to power our homes, get from place to place and what we use to cook our food, but we often overlook the importance of food as a fuel source for our bodies. Without the proper fuel derived from consuming macro and micronutrients, we cannot perform at the level necessary to meet the demands we place on ourselves, possess the energy necessary to engage our families, and chase a career.
Macronutrients (carbs, fats, and proteins) are the basic types of fuel processed by the body into useful components to energize our brains, power our muscles, and repair our cells. Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) are also contained within macronutrients and are vitally important in supporting mental acuity, balancing body processes and form the building blocks of our tissues.
Did your vehicle come with instructions recommending a specific octane level or voltage? Your body also comes with instructions – DNA. Our Genetic Wellness DNA test will help you understand which fuels your body may need the most by identifying potential micronutrient deficiencies while also providing a better understanding of how your body utilizes carbs, fats, and proteins.
Genetic Wellness tests all 3 macronutrients plus 16 micronutrients along with your body’s response and sensitivity to many other nutrition factors. Written by Licensed, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, your personalized report explains the importance your body’s response to each of these macro and micronutrients and makes recommendations to adjust your fuel accordingly.
It's our hope that a better understanding of your unique design will lead you to improving the fuel your body needs to power it into the future. Now that’s a plan that is sustainable all around.
